Five Vegan, Gluten-Free Snacks to Take on the Go

No matter the circumstance –– whether at work, going to visit a friend across town, or on a road trip to the next state over –– sometimes a snack is needed to tide a person over until their next meal. Luckily, there are many tasty vegan and gluten free snacks available to take with you on your travels.

1. Applesauce Pouches

A super easy snack to come by and even make at home, applesauce is a delicious, sweet option perfect for anyone who needs a quick pick me up. One popular brand of applesauce pouches is GoGo Squeez, linked here, which is gluten, nut, and dairy free. There is also no sugar added, and they can be purchased at most major grocery stores. If you want to make your own, there is a great three ingredient vegan and gluten free recipe from Minimalist Baker, linked here. Once made, the applesauce can be stored in small tupperware containers that you can bring along wherever you go.

2. Seaweed Packets

Though not for everyone, seaweed packets are ultra savory, crunchy, and have a notable fishy taste that make them unique. Most come in a regular sea salt flavor, but others can have add ons of teriyaki and wasabi flavoring, as well as others. They are fairly easy to find, and most major grocery store chains should have them available. For seaweed snacks available at Target, click the link here. If you have never tried them before, definitely give them a taste!

3. Carrot Sticks and Hummus

Of course, carrot sticks are a great snack to eat on their own, as they are filling and a wonderful source of vitamin A. However, paired with dips like hummus, they become an irresistible snack you can be sure to reach for. Hummus itself is a creamy, earthy chickpea dip that is not hard to find at a local grocery store or whip up yourself. Some popular vegan, gluten-free brands are Sabra, linked here, and Cava, linked here, which can be packaged to take on the go. To make a delightful hummus at home, look no further than the recipe linked here. Be sure to purchase tahini that is gluten free, like the tahini at this link here, pack it up, and dig in.

4. Frozen Grapes

Probably the most simple snack on this list, frozen grapes are exactly what they sound like: grapes that are frozen. What’s great about this snack is that it can be made in large quantities and can last a while (unless you eat them all in one go). They are great for the summer time, as they are cool, refreshing, and lightly sweet. To make, just wash however many grapes you want –– maybe around three cups –– destem them, and put them in a large ziplock bag. Put the bag in a freezer and freeze overnight. From there, you can take however many you want to eat at a time, and enjoy!

5. Muffins

For sweets lovers, these mouthwatering little muffins can be a lovely treat to satisfy cravings during the day. With just a few ingredients, the vegan, gluten free, and nut free recipe linked here is sure to make you smile. If you are feeling creative, you can also add flavoring, fruits, or chocolate chips. Pack one or two of these in a small bag, and stay munching!
